Well done to Form 4 student, Sarah, who took part in this year’s Laureate na nÓg. This is a prestigious award given every three years to a children’s author or illustrator who has shown exceptional talent and dedication to their work. This year, Sarah was selected to serve on the judging panel alongside five others. Together, they read 32 books before deciding on the winner, and in January she travelled to Dublin to cast her vote.
At the beginning of May, Sarah was invited to the award ceremony where the winner, Chris Haughton, received the Laureate from President Catherine Connolly. It was an incredible experience to have been part of the judging panel and to have had the opportunity to mix with Ireland’s contemporary writers.
