Thoughts From a Teenage Mind

Thoughts From a Teenage Mind

We are incredibly proud of Form 6 student, Alice Roch-Perks, who recently wrote a book of poetry, ‘Thoughts From A Teenage Mind’, published by Pegasus publishers. The book was officially launched on Friday evening last by award winning poet, Ms. Clodagh Beresford Dunne, in Ardmore.

Already Alice has received some wonderful responses on the book from fellow authors, among whom are Eoin Colfer, Greg Delanty, Sean Hewit, Roisin O’Donnell and Poetry Lecturer, Elaine Feeny.  She also received a kind message from An Taoiseach, Micheal Martin, who sent her a video message, which was played at the launch!

Alice, who has dyslexia, has learned to navigate words with confidence and has embraced the unique ways it shapes how she reads, communicates and engages with language. Rather than viewing dyslexia as a limitation or a disability, Alice sees it as a distinguishing strength. Her book acts as an inspiration for those with dyslexia, and indeed for young people throughout … and bodes well for our future.  We are so proud of her! Congratulations Alice, on a fantastic accomplishment!

Alice has also kindly offered to do a book signing here at school on Friday 16th May (more details to follow).
