The 1st year B team travelled to Waterford for their cup final against Newtown on Friday. From the beginning of the game, the lads started to gain control of the game with excellent movement and passing. The scoring was opened thanks to a customary Charlie Casey strike from a penalty corner and truth be told we never looked back thereafter. We found ourselves 4-0 up at half-time thanks to goals from Paraic Cummins, captain Daniel Phillips and David O’Connor. The pick of the bunch being David’s fine finish after a flowing move of two touch hockey involving himself, Paraic and Adam O’Loughlin.
The second half saw Newtown pose more of a threat and gain several penalty corners of their own but the defence led by Jacob Sheane and Evan Cashman saw us hold them out. We added further goals from Páraic, Tom Aherne and Kaleb Johnston to secure a convincing and deserved 7-0 win to cap off a successful season. Between the A and B sides we have had 25 players represent the school this year and they should all be proud of their efforts.
