The Senior A girls hockey team played against Rockwell away on Wednesday in the semi-final of the league, in very wet conditions. They started the game well and nearly took the lead on a few occasions, but halfway through the second quarter, Rockwell took the lead 1-0. Just before half time, we were awarded a short corner and captain Ava Huggard fired in our equaliser, 1-1 at the break.
Rockwell began to take control of the game in the third quarter and retook the lead, 2-1. Into the final quarter and we had to go for it, this left us vulnerable to counter attacks, and that’s just what happened, with Rockwell increasing their lead to 3-1. The girls fought really hard and Ryana Read made 3-2 with a few minutes left, setting up a grandstand finish! Alas, we could not find the equaliser and the game finished 3-2. The girls played really well and were unlucky not to get at least a draw, if not a win from the game. Well done girls and hard luck today!
