Well done to Rachel Sweetnam (Captain) and the Senior A girls hockey squad, as they beat Mount Mercy 1-0 in Midleton yesterday in their first league match of the season. The winning goal was scored by Laura Creagh in the first quarter, with a sweetly struck reverse stick shot low across the keeper! The girls worked incredibly hard throughout and managed to hold on for the win, despite enormous pressure coming towards the end. Maebh Deavy made some outstanding saves, including saving a penalty stroke in the last quarter! Their next league match is on Wednesday Sept 16th against St. Angela’s (h) at 11am.
