It was a tough day for us in the JCT Mungret Shield quarter-final against a very strong Kinsale side. Kinsale started sharply and capitalised on our slow start, building early momentum with some well worked scores. To our credit, we grew into the game towards the end of the first half. Our defensive effort really stood out, with Anthony, Theo and Liam putting in some very good tackles.
We carried that improvement into the second half with a much better start. The highlight of the game was George’s superbly executed try from a well worked trick play Line out. While the final score of 52–5 didn’t go our way, there were valuable lessons and positives to take from the performance. Well done to Kinsale, who have some very talented players, and best of luck to them in the next round.
