PTA SUMMER NEWS LETTER 2015
The last term is always a busy time for the PTA, I would like to extend my thanks to the PTA committee which is made up of both parents and teachers. Thank you for your willingness to serve and contribute to the life of the college.
We started the term with the Careers Day, which was held on the 23rd of April. It was a hot and busy day and the 4th & 5th year students met with many interesting people and the event left them with many thought provoking career choices. Thank you to the parents who gave up their time to come and speak at the event and those who came to host the event, and assist in the organisation of speakers and students.
The TY Graduation Night was held on the 7th May, the PTA sponsors a number of prizes which go to students who make a concerted effort during the TY year to participate and get involved in many activities and opportunities which cause them to go outside of their comfort zone and grow personally.
The PTA hosted a coffee morning for the incoming 1st Year Parents on the 9th May. While the students were doing their Maths and English assignments in the Assembly Hall, we met with parents in the dining hall. It was the first time the PTA had done this, and it was a great opportunity for the incoming families to meet and chat about the life in the College.
The Governors’ Reception was held on the 15th May. The PTA hosted a “drinks and nibbles” event for the families, in the sunken garden, after the 6th year students (who were beautifully turned out and smartly scrubbed up!) left for their meal at the Midleton Park Hotel.
On the 28th of May the PTA organised and facilitated the 2nd hand uniform sale. It was an event that was well supported and I would like to thank the PTA and the Parents who helped with the set up, selling and clear up afterwards.
Finally, on the last day of school, 29th May, the PTA had a strawberries and cream tent at Sports Day. We all indulged and enjoyed the magnificently sweet strawberries and decadent cream! Sports day was also the last official school day for our outgoing Vice Principal, Bud Morrissey, and the PTA presented Bud with a Travel Gift Voucher to thank him for his many years of dedication and service to the school.
The PTA AGM will be held on the 22nd of September. Please consider joining the PTA Committee.
Have a fun, summer and farewell to those families leaving the college.
