This subject has been devised to assist the College’s overseas students with every aspect of the English language. The outlook of the programme is two-fold: Firstly, to aid students in their studies by providing extra support in their relevant academic subjects. Secondly to facilitate students’ wishes to sit the Cambridge English exams in UCC at the end of the academic year.

Students study the four disciplines of the Cambridge English Exam structure. This is assessed through continuous exam practice in the various disciplines throughout the year.

Cambridge English Exams

Cambridge English exams are the world's leading range of certificates for learners of English. Each year they are taken by over 1.75 million people, in 135 countries. They can help in gaining entrance to a university or college, improve job prospects and measure progress in English. We focus on B2 First for Schools which is targeted at the same CEFR level as B2 First but with content aimed at school-age learners rather than adults.

The exams are composed of four parts:

  • Reading and Use of English
  • Writing
  • Listening
  • Speaking
