After a receiving close to 700 entries this year, the 2017 'Let's Talk about Drugs' National Youth Media Awards category winners and runners-up have been announced. The competition is primarily aimed at secondary schools, colleges and youth clubs nationwide and is supported by the Department of Health, the HSE, and the website.

This year, students were asked to research topics or share their personal experiences and create either: a short video, an audio podcast, a news article; or a poster on one of a given theme. Form 4 Sociology students, Christopher and Luca were awarded an honourable mention for the poster they designed which contemplated 'Why some young people use drugs'. Another Form 4 Sociology group made up of Oisin, Elena, Laurileigh, and Kate, were awarded best overall in their age category for their audio podcast that illustrated the impact that alcohol has on relationships.

The awards ceremony for the winners will take place on the 26th April in the Department of Education Clock Tower Building. And Blathnaid Treacy from RTE will be the guest of honour on the day.
