Senior Girls Hockey advance
Article Uploaded : 22/01/2020 21:45:51 by Midleton College

The Senior girls hockey team has a resounding 6-0 win over Mount Mercy on Wednesday. The girls played exceptionally well, putting in their best performance of the season so far, to win with ease on the day and put themselves through to the quarter finals of the Senior B Cup.

The opening goal came courtesy of Lucia Holme, who had a fine game. She carved through the defence with a slaloming run and produced a cool finish into the corner. Our second goal was scored by the ever impressive Zara Bowles with a neat finish from a short corner. The third goal scorer was Alanna Drennan, who worked tirelessly throughout the match and got the goal she deserved with a well taken finish. 3-0 at half time.

The second half continued along the same line as the first half, with the girls creating copious amounts of chances. Eabha Collins came off the bench to bag herself a second half hat-trick and take the match ball home with her in the process! All three of her goals were as a result of being in the right place at the right time, but required finishing at the same time! Her best goal was a lovely little reverse stick finish, after quick reactions to readjust herself.

All in all it was a terrific performance and a fantastic result. We play Presentation College Bandon in the 1/4 finals, which will most likely be after the mid-term break. Well done girls!
