It is with profound sadness that we say good-bye today to our teacher, friend, and colleague Ms Siobhán Delaney. Siobhán passed away last night in Marymount Hospice and will be buried today in Graiguenamanagh Town in Co Kilkenny.
Siobhán joined the school in 2016 as a full-time Irish and History teacher; she was a talented teacher taking Leaving Certificate classes in both subject areas. She loved teaching at Midleton College and her students loved her classes.
Siobhán was appointed as an Assistant Principal in 2018, and took on responsibility for the Student Council and worked with the students on many initiatives which have greatly enhanced the school. This was in addition to her role as College Archivist; working with local historians, Siobhán created a role of honour to remember those from the school that lost their lives in World War I. This hangs proudly in the College Library.
As a staff representative, Siobhán was a member of the Parent Teacher Association committee and used her great energy in organising many events for students and parents.
She was a wonderful colleague, so positive, so energetic, good humoured and optimistic; Siobhán was incredibly kind. She will be missed dearly by all in the school.
Siobhán was a dedicated and loving wife and mother.
We are thinking of and praying for Siobhán’s friends, her husband, Mick, and their young family at this sad and difficult time.
May she rest in God’s peace and rise in glory.
Should they wish to do so, students are welcome to contact myself, Mr Stanley or Ms Gillespie by email at any time.
