National Winner!!
Article Uploaded : 25/09/2018 by Midleton College

Hanna Roch Perks recorded a superb win last weekend at The Pony Club Hunter Trials National Championship, held in New Ross. Up against tough competition in the Senior Individual Category of the competition , Hanna astride her 12 year 15.3 mare, Jane, fought off the challenge from 40 other riders across country over the Hunter Trials course. The mare is quite hotheaded and needs a skillful rider aboard but is considered to be a very talented, brave and clever horse in Hunter Trial events, if she complies  with the rider’s instructions.

In cross country, rider and horse are required to jump 24 solid banks, hedges, water jumps and other non- natural knockable fences at a galloping speed.Penalty points are incurred if fences are knocked or horses run out at fences. Also, slower times over the course incur penalty points.

This is an outstanding achievement on Hanna’s part astride her mount in a discipline considered to be one of the most challenging in the sport. Hanna is a member of Midleton College Equestrian Club. We are very proud of her and we wish her every success in future Hunter Trials or Showjumping events.
