Munster Schools Swimming Gala
Article Uploaded : 09/02/2022 by Midleton College

Well done to all students who entered into the Munster Schools Swimming Gala held at the University of Limerick on Sunday. There were 12 students who travelled to Limerick to compete in the event. They competed against all of the schools in Munster. Everyone performed well both individually and with their relay teams.

Well done to the intermediate boys relay team who achieved a GOLD medal in their medley, Noah Switzer (Backcrawl), Ricky Fane (Breaststroke), Ewan Coleman (Fly) and Dylan Gunn (Freestyle) and the same team won a GOLD medal for their Freestyle relay also times of 1.49.56. This is a huge achievement as the standard in these relays was extremely high, all of the boys achieved personal best times in their relay races. They have all qualified for All-Irelands, which will be held in The National Aquatic Centre, Blanchardstown, Dublin.

Noah Switzer won a SILVER medal for individual Backstroke and Dylan won BRONZE for individual Fly and both qualify for the All-Irelands in these categories.

A massive well done to our swimmers; Ben Coleman who swam Backstroke and Butterfly, Ewan Fane who swam Breaststroke and Butterfly, Ava Huggard who swam Freestyle and Butterfly, Tess Dwane who swam Backstroke and Breaststroke, Rachel Sweetnam who swam Freestyle and Breaststroke, Sean Connolly who swam Freestyle and Backstroke, Jude Buckley who swam Freestyle, Breaststroke, Alex Wade who swam Backstroke and Freestyle. Well done Ewan Fane, Sean Connolly, Jude Buckley and Alex Wade swam in the Senior Freestyle medley.

A special thanks to all the parents that travelled to Limerick to help out for the day and to Connall Boyle for his advice and Dolphin Swimming club for providing a lane to train in for the last number of weeks to train for the event.
