Our Spanish travelling party arrived safely on Saturday, eventually touching base in Salamanca at 2.30 pm. On arrival, our students sampled Spanish paella. After a siesta, our students were brought on a short guided tour of Salamanca, guided by our Mester teachers, Consuelo and Sandra- visiting the Plaza Mayor, La Casa de las Conchas and other important landmarks in the Casco Antiguo.
Today, our touring party will visit in Segovia the famous, ancient Roman aqueduct, the Alcazar ( a military fortress ) and the 16th century cathedral. They will also learn about a devil legend associated with a certain mountain!
In nearby Avila, our party will visit the famous ‘muralla’- an 11th century town wall, the 17th century Iglesia de la Santa Teresa and a 12th century Cathedral. (more pics in gallery)
