Article Uploaded : 04/03/2021 17:40:34 by Midleton College

We’re very proud of Blaithin (Form 4) who recently won the Senior category of the Specsavers National Short Story Competition. The competition entry requirement was to write a short story of under 500 words that began with the sentence 'Looking into the crystal ball gave the fortune teller something to smile about…’

As part of the prize, Blaithin has won all the shortlisted books entered in the Specsavers Irish Children’s Book of the Year Award 2020 and a €500 donation for the library at Midleton College.

A fantastic achievement for any young writer, no doubt we’ll be seeing more of this budding author in years to come!
