A visit from Billy rent a goat.
Article Uploaded : 27/09/2022 13:19:12 by Midleton College

From Monday 26th September, for 1 week, William walsh will be on the school grounds. William is going to hold workshops and educate us on how to manage our land ethically with the help of his herd of goats!!!!!!!

The goats will remove unwanted vegetation without using harmful chemicals or destructive petrol/diesel powered machinery.

Our Ag Science, Green schools and TY horticulture groups will have a question and answer session with William, learning about regenerative agriculture, species diversity, soil health, climate proofing and sustainable land management practices.

Younger students from Midleton Educate Together, CBS primary and St. John the baptist, local group ECMP and our wonderful volunteers from the veggie garden will also visit to get some tips on a healthy natural environment.

We are so excited to see how the goats interact with their environment and to bring our new knowledge with us into our future endeavours.

Huge thanks to Ms Henry and the PA for organising and supporting this experience. It’s great to see our school facilitating a greater understanding of how to create a stronger and more resilient native ecosystem.

If any parents would like to see the goats they are welcome on Thursday between 5 and 6.30pm . Please let us know if you're coming by emailing [email protected]
