On Friday 22nd 16 TY students travelled to I.T.  Tralee to be part of the apprentice chef workshop. They got a tour of the kitchens in the hotel and catering department from Chef Mark Doe and saw all the specialised equipment and how an industry kitchen works.
They then listened to a talk from a food nutritionist and from chef Mark Murphy about the apprentice chef project and watched a cookery demonstration of 7 dishes of fish meat and vegetarian dishes. They all got to sample the various dishes.
All the students that travelled will now have the opportunity to go forward and compete to be the two representatives who take part in the apprentice chef project and take part in the first round cook off in Tralee in January. This is a national competition and out of hundreds of schools that applied Midleton College are lucky enough to have been selected to go forward to the cook-off stage.
