The Blue Light Boat Race Regatta takes place this Sunday at 3.30pm at Whitegate Rowing Club. This fundraising event sees teams of amateur rowers from across East Cork compete against each other. This year Midleton College has entered a team in the ‘schools category’.

Part of the proceeds from this fantastic event go towards the services provided by East Cork Rapid Response, which is a voluntary group that provides a Pre-Hospital Emergency Service for the East Cork Community. I have put a sponsor card up in the staff room on behalf of our school's team, should anyone like to contribute.

The rowing event will see entries from a variety of clubs and organisations from all corners of our local community. There are teams entering from An Garda Síochána to the Coast Guard. As well as several well known local businesses, gyms, sports organisations, the Port of Cork, and of course many secondary schools. Midleton College will compete against various teams, including local schools such as St Mary’s, CBS, St. Coleman’s, and St Aloysius College.

Students that have been training in preparation from Midleton College, include Barry Kenneally, Doireann McCaughley, Luke Obersby, Jonathan Mahony, and Adam McDonagh.

They would like to thank everyone for supporting them in this fundraising event.
