The senior cricket team played their first match of the season on Wednesday May 1st against Bandon in Harlequins. The side had a very youthful look due to and performed admirably against a much older and experienced Bandon side.
Bandon won the toss and elected to bat, amassing a score of 161-5 from their 20 overs. The Midleton bowlers bowled very well, given their inexperience, which kept the score down. Eabha Collins was the pick of the bowlers finishing with figures of 2-36 off 4 overs, ably assisted by Harry Smith Huskinson 1-19 off his 4 overs on debut, James Burfield 0-26 off his 4 overs, Benno Schelling 0-31 off 4 overs on debut and Samson Thompson 0-46 from his 4 overs. Carl Von Der Werde also took a superb high catch in the deep!
Midleton’s batting performance was resolute, disciplined and sound. We amassed 42 all out, solid effort. Ben Jennings, Eabha Collins, Samson Thompson and Patrick Dooley the stand out batters. So Bandon the victors on the day, our next match is on Wednesday May 15th against Cork Comminuty Schools at 10:30am. 🏏
