On behalf of everyone in the Midleton College family, the Chairman of the Boards, Bishop Paul Colton, and the Acting Principal, Mr Bud Morrissey, express sincere and heartfelt condolences to the family and loved ones of our much-loved past-pupil Robbie Steele (Midleton College 2007 to 2013) who died in a tragic accident on Friday last. Tributes have been pouring in to Robbie's friendship, cheerful friendliness, solidarity with friends of all ages, and all round kindness to so many.
Bishop Colton said: 'In his short life which has ended so tragically, Robbie has made a remarkable impression on many of us because of his cheerful and engaging humanity - he had time for everyone in the Midleton College family of all ages and walks of life.'
Mr Morrissey added: "The word that sums up Robbie for me is "irrepressible". He was always a cheerful, bubbly personality with a wonderful impish grin, and his was a positive influence on many aspects of our community at Midleton College'
We have been informed that Robbie will lie in repose at his home in Whitegate on Monday, 6th October until prayers and Rosary at 9 p.m. His home is private on Tuesday morning, after which he will be received into St Erasmus' Church, Aghada, for Requiem Mass at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, 7th October. Burial will follow in All Saints' Cemetery. Family flowers only.
