Minister for Education and Skills, Ruaírí Quinn T.D. officially opens The Colton Building

Midleton College was honoured by the presence of the Minister for Education and Skills, Ruari Quinn T.D. who officially opened the new  'Colton Building' yesterday. The ceremony was attended by members of the Oireachtas, Diocesan representatives, local and county councillors, former Governors, former staff members, current students and staff. The Minister toured the building and met students from all year groups. He tried his hand at bakery in the Home Economics room and, along with Junior Minister Sean Sherlock and Deputy David Stanton, mixed with the students in IT, Spanish, Religion and Maths classes.

Speaking at the Ceremony the Minister congratulated the Boards of the College for their work in ensuring the provision of the most modern of facilities for our students. Minister Quinn stated his belief that the College could look forward with confidence to a continuation of its proud academic history. Principal Simon Thompson thanked all those who have served the college in voluntary and professional capacities now and in the past, whose combined commitment has brought the College close to its 300th year of education provision.
