The Green Schools committee had a very positive year last year, as they promoted Water Conservation in the school. It was first year of a two year programme working towards their third Green Flag. Two members of the committee, Jessie McCarthy (chairperson) and Onome Ackhilomen (PRO) were also chosen nationally by Green Schools to be Water Ambassadors. They followed a programme which involved workshops, one of which was hosted in Midleton College, and training days in partnership with Irish Water.

Excitingly, at the Green Schools "Irish Water Awards 2018" ceremony in May Jessie was awarded Regional Ambassador for Munster, and Onome a was runner up, which recognised their great work throughout the year. I hope they will continue to educate and inspire others as they have been doing throughout the school year. Speaking about the ambassador program, Jessie expressed it ‘has opened my eyes to copious problems in today’s society relating to water and waste management, as well as ways in which we can actively take a stand and make an impact with limited time and resources.’
The Green Schools Committee will meet every Tuesday at 1.20pm in Room 4. Students from all year groups are welcome, so if you are interested come to a meeting or talk to Ms. Reeves
