Last week we had the last Green Schools meeting of the year. The committee have been meeting weekly to work towards the second Green Schools flag for Energy. All the students involved have been very enthusiastic and innovative with their ideas with how to reduce energy usage around the school. In April we had a workshop in the school ran by two representatives from Susliving, a company who promote and explore ideas about sustainable living. The students learnt how to build window boxes from left over skirting boards and planted them up, which can now be seen in The Arches. They also up-cycled waste paper into booklets, t-shirts into bags, and learnt about soil types, composting and insect hotels. It was a great workshop to be involved in and the students enjoyed participating. One student said "I enjoyed the workshop especially because it showed how everything has a second life and how creativity can make anything beautiful again!" (more pics in gallery)
