German Christmas Traditions at Midleton College

As is now tradition, pupils of German in Form 1 and Form 6, together with their teacher, Ms. Henry, started the Christmas season in class with various German Christmas activities.
Form 6 students baked traditional German cookies that are famously sold in Christmas Markets. Having baked Kokosnussmakronen before in 2012, the students had a great time in the kitchen once again and got into the festive mood while experiencing and tasting German culture first hand. This time, they also added their own little twist with food colours and additional chocolate to personalise their cookies.
Form 1 celebrated Sankt Nikolaus day (December 6th), by learning about - and singing! - a German Christmas carol in class and receiving a sock full of goodies from St. Nikolaus for their efforts.
Frohe Weihnachten und ein gutes Neues Jahr 2016!
