31 Form 3 students set off for Spain to do their week’s course on Spanish Language and Culture in Salamanca, in the famed Mester School of Spanish yesterday (Friday night). They are accompanied by Ms Dawson, Ms Gillespie  and Mr Sexton.
Students will be staying in the onsite accommodation provided by Mester. Apart from attending language classes every morning, students will partake in various cultural activities all through the target language of Spanish. One of the highlights of the week will undoubtedly be the excursion to Madrid where we will visit the Almudena Cathedral, Royal Palace, Plaza Mayor and the Santiago Bernabéu Football Stadium, home to the Real Madrid FC Club.
During the week, other highlights are the Tapa Trail, La Universidad de Salamanca , a climb to the top of la Catedral,  a visit to a bullfighting museum and El Monasterio de San Esteban . By the end of the week, students will have perfected Salsa dance and the art of making ‘tortilla de patatas ‘, as instructed by Chema! On completion of their course, students will be presented with their diplomas in Spanish.
It promises to be an action packed week. We wish Midleton College students safe travels and a memorable week in Salamanca.
