Hockey Finals 3rd Year in a Row

Our Senior 1st boys hockey team, captained by Alistair Murphy, successfully qualified for the 3rd year in a row for the Irish Schools, Finals. To qualify they beat Newton in a 5 nil victory, in which Nick Burns scored a hatrick, Adam O’Callaghan and Alistair Murphy got a goal each.

So on Wednesday, the 22nd of October they travelled up to Limerick at 9:00 in the morning, excited and looking forward to the next couple of days!

Their opening match was against R.B.A.I, in which they made a valiant effort, but unfortunately were defeated of a score line of 4-2 but could have easily been the other way around. Our goals being scored by A.O’Callghan and M.Hornibrook.

Their 2nd match was against Wesley, who were well-known favourites of the entire competition, we were defeated 8-0. But this defeat didn’t seem to dampen the boys spirits as they next played Kilkeel winning by 2-0, our final winning goal being scored in the last minute, both goals were scored by N.Burns!

Their final match was a friendly against Wallace, in which Kilkeel came out victorious by 2-0.

The boys stayed for the duration of the tournament in the Kilmurray Lodge Hotel, and all their matches were played in U.L. We’d like to congratulate the boys for qualifying once again and for their great commitment to their team!
