Swimming Pool

Our pool was first opened in 1971 and cost £6000 to build.

It is 16.5 metres long ,7.5 metres wide, 2 metres deep at the deep end and 1 metre deep at the shallow end. It holds 200 tonnes or 40,000 gallons of water.

The pool is now heated by its own gas fuelled boiler which enables us to keep the water at a very pleasant 30 ^oC.

A few years ago a high security fence was built around the pool. It is opened most afternoons during the summer term and the first half of the autumn term. When open the pool is always properly supervised by members of staff.

While not large enough for inter school competitive swimming it does allow us to have our own championships once a year.

Many pupils have gained more confidence in the water in a safe and controlled environment.
