Deep in the heart of New York City is the village of Broadway. There they play a dice game rather charmingly called ‘craps’. Money has been known to change hands. As this game is illegal it moves from place to place or ‘floats’ especially when the police are unwilling to turn a blind eye or ‘the heat is on’. This gives the ‘promoter’ of this crap game a hard time finding a ‘spot’ to carry on his business.
With a combination of the original stage musical and lots of jokes added by the director and cast we had a lot of fun putting it together. The audience were greeted by the colourful and glittering set. Rope lights were used to recreate the neon signs of Broadway. Dancing girls and other signs completed the backdrop.
We started with a number arranged by Ms Anderson and sang by Alex Spink, Josh Spink and Sean O Regan. What a great start we never had such singing. The music was all beautifully arranged and played by Ms Anderson. The first scene introduces the cast of characters. The boys played by Sean O Sullivan (who was also the script editor) and another experienced performer Robert Markham who gave us the narrative with Brian O Rourke playing the now honest cop in his own sweet way. Then we had Killian O Dwyer the first of the principles and a really outstanding performance. He just looked so right in the part and his scenes with Megan his moll were really funny.

The main story is a love story between the big gambler played by an excellent Daragh Mathews and the very believable Alison Kavanagh as The Mission Doll. They just lit up the stage. They worked so hard it was faultless on the night.
Everybody was just great from the nasty Teirnan Brenans ‘Big Jule’ to the girls of the mission and The General who was Sabrina Laatz on the first night at very short notice but luckily Mollie Kennedy recovered to do the role the second night.
Too many people to mention them all but Jen Preston’s singing has to be praised. The gangsters all did really well Seibhe Little, Cassie Twomey and Donnachadh Gethins all getting their first big parts and Luke Terret on great form.
