Rugby Tour 100% Success
Tuesday 17 April 2007
After their famous win in the final of the Mungret Cup the senior team jetted off to Scotland for fun and competition with school teams in the land of the midnight haggis. Flying from Cork Airport and busing as far north as Inverness the boys took on three teams and won all three. All the players got a run out in this traditional trip. Players who have previously cheered on and trained now pulled on the jersey and stood proud.
The first match was against North Berwick and was a really physical match with a few injuries adding to the final result. The second match was slightly easier in terms of physicality. This win against Linlithgow 2nds gave some of our injured players a rest and those players without much match practice a chance to show their colours.
It wasn't all work and no play. The team had a dip in the Edinburgh Commonwealth 50m Swimming Pool and some members of the team showed off their own variations of some dives on the diving boards. Other activities included a guided tour of Edinburgh, a tour of Murrayfield Stadium and an afternoon on the dry ski slopes that managed to open a few scars.
The final match followed a scenic drive up north to Inverness against the Highlands R.F.C. With blue skies above and some winter snow still on the peaks of the passing mountains, the bus ride provided a spectacle for amateur photographers in the team. Inverness gave the team their 3rd win for a truly successful tour and an ideal way to farewell the 6th years.
