Field Studies / Visits
6th Form English travelled to Waterford for a performance of King Lear. A performance of Hamlet was staged in the College assembly hall. 5th Form English students attended a performance of Hamlet in Cork. These performances were organised by Ms. Mackillop, Mr Hickey, Mrs. Levis & Mrs. Weston.
Form 6 Honours Irish students travelled to the An Daingean Gaelteacht for 3 days preparation for the forthcoming Irish Oral examinations. Mr O’Mahony, Ms Kenny & Ms O‘Callaghan accompanied the pupils.
Transition Year
4th Form students visited the Blackrock Observatory, while 6th Form Ag. Science students have completed a field excursion to Fota Wildlife Park which forms part of their Leaving Certificate course work for the State examinations. These excursions were co-ordinated by Ms Curtin, Mr O’Neill & Mr Stanley.
Each of the 4th Form, Form groups completed a week long Outdoor Pursuits course on Heir Island. Midleton College subsidised each pupil @ 50euro per pupil per week, as a means of supporting all pupils in participating in the excursion. Thanks are due to Mr Power, Ms Hassey, Mr Seale, Ms Guest, Mr Gill & Ms Clifford who each travelled with one of the Form groups for the week.
Work Experience has been completed by all Transition Year pupils, co-ordinated by Mr Leopold.
The Orchestra attended a performance by the Japanese KODA drummers in Cork city hall accompanied by Mr & Mrs. Nicholls.
Mini Company
One of the TY Mini Company groups, ‘Perfect Plastic’ was awarded 1st Prize in the South Cork Young Entrepreneurs Competition. They now proceed to the All-Ireland finals to be held in Dublin. Mr McGuckin, Mr Gill, Ms Linehan & Mr Stanley co-ordinate the Mini Companies.
Inter- Schools Quiz
The senior Quiz team won the South Cork section of the TCH Inter-Schools Quiz and proceed to the Munster final after Easter.
International Students
8 of our international students have completed the Cambridge examinations in English as a Foreign language. These exams take place in Cork each year. This is co-ordinated by Mr Baker.
Easter Music Service
The annual celebration of the coming of Easter took place at Cloyne Cathedral on Wednesday 24th April at 8.00pm.
