Golf News:

Midleton College Golf Competition
It was mid-May once again and the venue for the competion was the East Cork Golf Club. The day was mostly dry with light wind and patches of rain. This was Mr. O’Mahony’s last year and he went out with a bang hitting an impressive 38 points. Also joining the students were Ms. Guest and Ms. Power. The pressure was building and every shot counted. The cards were counted and points added up. In 3rd place was Ned O’Shea with 38 points,Greg Harrigan had a well deserved 40 points while Thomas Turkington took the victory winning with 41 points. This was 2 in 2 years for Turkington. Thank you to Mr O’Mahony for all his work in the golf department.

Showjumping Success!!!

On the 31st of January, the equestrian team travelled to the Ballyrafter Equestrian Center in Lismore to compete in the annual (highly competitive) interschools competition. The teams consisting of Sam Lynch, Frazer Brown, Tiger Waite, Simon McCarthy, Niamh McCormack and Gavin Smiddy jumped their first rounds after an intensive warm up. The first team to go was Simon, Niamh and Gavin who all went clear! Unfortunately the second team ended with a team total of 12 faults, ruling them out of the speed round.
For the speed round Simon and Niamh were nominated to ride. Simon went first and jumped a great round with a fast time but unfortunately knocked one fence. Now the pressure was on Niamh to get a clear round. The tension was unbearable but to everyones delight she jumped a clear round in good time. The results were called later and the team were astonished that they had won 1st prize in the entire competition! Thanks to Ms. Stead who co-ordinated the team. We wish the team even more success in their upcoming competitions

Maths Wiz!
