Computer Room
We are very fortunate to have recently upgraded our computer room facilities. This was largely financed by Samnir Nagi a former pupil of Midleton College. His generosity allowed us to completely refit the room and equip it with 19 iMac computers, three printers (Including a colour laser) a scanner and digital camera.
The room is totally networked allowing all the machines to have Internet access via broadband. The equipment is fully up to the National Centre for Technology in Education (NCTE) specifications.
All our machines are equipped with software such as Microsoft Office, IWork and ILife. These therefore create a great platform for bringing our students up to GCSE standards for the exam taken at the end of 4th year. We also use the IT lessons that each pupil takes to expand their creative side, using animation, photo manipulation, web design and music samples.
The use of the computers is fully supervised at all times. It is open for a number of afternoons during the week so that the students can make use of the Internet and e-mail options. This allows everyone to keep in contact with family and friends.
The computer room was officially opened by the Minister for Education and Science Mr Michael Woods on the 6th of November 2000.
