College Choir
The choir maintains a long tradition of singing at Christmas and Easter.
At Easter the choir usually undertakes a sacred cantata and at Christmas they sing the College Service of nine lessons and carols.
This Christmas performance for many signals the beginning of the real Christmas feeling around school.
In 2000, as part of a Millennium project, the Midleton College Choir recorded Stainer’s Crucifixion, with The Very Rev’d W. Beare and Mr. R. Beare as soloists. The celebrated Beare brothers are now honorary old boys of the College. They have sung every Easter for the College for many years and we were delighted to have the opportunity to make a lasting record of one of their most colourful pieces of Midleton repertoire.
The recording was directed by the Director of Music, Mr. Ian Sexton and the disk is available through the school office.
The choir are also involved in the Christmas concert, with the main singers getting a chance at both the religious and the secular.
