Christmas Concert
The Christmas concert is central to happenings in the college during late November and December. As with all activities at the school performance is an educational process. The rehearsal the development and the show are all opportunities to find the things in life that are just plain fun. We let the pupils plan and contribute at every stage. They help adapt the script chose the costume, run the stage and paint the set. The aim is to get everyone we can on stage and that can be mean opera and rock in the same show. See you in December.
Christmas Concert December 2008
The box office smash production of South Pacific received great praise from everybody who went. Those who had never seen the classical movie were in for a treat with performances of the musical hits “Nothing Like A Dame”, “Wash That Man Right Outta My Hair” and “Honey Bun”. The quality and range of the show stole the attention of the audience with brilliant vocals and snappy choreography. Apart from the students talents for singing, their acting capability got all the audience laughing and clapping along.
The theatrical performance told the story of a young woman, Nellie Forbush, who finds love and scandal with the French resident, Emile De Bacque, on a tiny island in the Pacific during WWII. Emily Humphreys and Darragh Matthews played the loved up couple. Other thespians who showed off their incredible skills were Josh Spink playing the young, stubborn but warm-hearted Lutientant Cable, Jen Preston and Laura McPadden with their hilarious double act as the Bloody Mary’s and Sean O Sullivan as the old and grumpy Commander Brannigan.
All of this couldn’t have come about without help from the Director,Ms O’ Brien, the Co-director Ms Lenihan, musical accompaniment by Mrs. Anderson, Mrs O’ Regan for designing the stage and the fabulous lights and backstage crew for doing all the odd jobs, make-up and everything. Thanks to all.
